Mae Marie Organics was born from a love of the environment and deep passion for making change. Our goal is to work collaboratively with nature, protecting the conservation values of the land and enhancing the ecosystem for pollinators.
When I became a mother, I felt responsible to make the best food choices for my family. I read about organic farming practices and decided to shape our meals in more sustainable ways. I traveled to local stands, grocery stores, and farmer's markets and realized I wanted to grow my own organic food. I expanded my knowledge with books, worked on an organic vegetable farm, volunteered on an organic medicinal farm and completed the Master Gardener classes at my local extension office. I put my book and experiential knowledge to work creating a home garden and then to my school garden. After a few growing seasons, I saw that native plants and their pollinators improved my garden success. New passion was sparked for native plants, local pollinators and understanding the natural world around me. I completed a variety of courses in ecological practices, permaculture, and conservation landscaping. These experiences and the people I have met taught me about growing food, becoming a responsible caregiver for the earth, and acting in more sustainable ways. I find great joy in sharing my love of gardening, native plants and conservation design. Let’s get started together from the roots up.
When I am not knee-deep in the dirt, you will find me in my flannel shirt, with dirt under my nails, drinking craft beer, eating kale, hugging my kids, alongside my bearded hubby dreaming of the next garden project.
